Mumbai Indians’ regular captain Hardik Pandya will be noticeably absent from Sunday’s campaign opener against Chennai Super Kings at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The reason?
A one-match ban imposed on him due to his team’s slow over-rate in its previous match against Lucknow Super Giants.
As a result, Suryakumar Yadav will lead the team in Hardik’s absence.
The ban is a carryover from the previous season, where Mumbai Indians failed to maintain the minimum over-rate for the third time, leading to Hardik’s suspension and a fine of Rs. 30 lakh.
