(01/07/24) IHG has appointed Jesper Bach Larsen as General
Manager of the InterContinental Halong Bay Resort and Residences,
a new-build property that is expected to open towards the end of
the year.
Jesper has over 24 years of experience working in
the hospitality industry. Most of his career thus far has been spent
with Hilton, starting in F&B and gradually taking on more and more
senior roles before his hard work was rewarded with his first GM
posting in February 2012.

Originally from Denmark, Jesper’s career has seen him work in Japan, Vietnam,
South Korea, Indonesia and Europe.
“Vietnam is one of the most exciting growth
destinations in Asia, and I am truly excited to open IHG’s first
property in Halong City,” Jesper said. “The InterContinental
Hotels & Resorts brand is the world’s first and largest

embarking on an exciting new chapter and introducing unique brand
differentiators that will be tailored to the modern luxury

warmth of Vietnamese hospitality to our guests and residents, and
supporting the tourism growth of the stunning Halong area.”
In partnership with long-time partner Ha Long
Investment and Development, a member of BIM Group,
the InterContinental Halong Bay Resort and Residences marks IHG’s expansion into the Quang Ninh
province of Vietnam and adds to the growing BIM and IHG property
portfolio which also includes Regent Phu Quoc, InterContinental Phu Quoc
Long Beach Resort,
Crowne Plaza Vientiane and an upcoming Holiday
Inn Vientiane, a testament to their strong decade-long
relationship.
A two-hour drive from Hanoi, the property will
feature
174 rooms and suites at the resort, whilst the residences will be
made up of 60 apartments, ranging from one to three bedrooms and
41 villas.
Facilities will include five restaurant and bar outlets, four pools, a gym,
private beach, kids club, spa and a choice of flexible meeting and
event spaces.
IHG has 18 open hotels in Vietnam across six
brands: Six Senses, Regent, InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, voco and
Holiday Inn. The company is on course to more than double
its portfolio in the country within the next three years by
opening at least 26 more hotels including InterContinental Halong
Bay Resort and Residences which is scheduled to open in Q4 2024.
