Akums Drugs and Pharmaceuticals has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) to jointly advance research and development in pharmaceutical formulations.
As part of this partnership, Akums and TNAU will collaborate to strengthen research through shared expertise and innovative agricultural solutions, fostering innovation in formulation development. According to a statement, the Department of Processing and Food Engineering at AEC&RI, TNAU, will explore novel applications of agri-based inputs for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical use, with a focus on sustainable, plant-derived resources.
Akums will contribute extensive pharmaceutical development expertise to complement TNAU’s cutting-edge agricultural research. The partnership will also provide industrial training and internship opportunities, offering students hands-on experience in pharmaceutical processing and formulation techniques. Additionally, Akums will collaborate with the Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute (AEC&RI), Kumulur, to explore the commercialization of innovative formulations for both domestic and international markets. This will be undertaken as part of the ICAR-sponsored CRP on Secondary Agriculture (SA) Project, funded by CIPHET, Ludhiana.
TNAU will support this initiative by coordinating research activities, overseeing the technical aspects of new product development, and ensuring smooth collaboration between the university’s research teams and Akums. The university will also facilitate capacity-building programs by involving dedicated research fellows.
